Fake Call About A Shooting Leaves Man Charged With Grand Theft

All charges related to grand theft and making a false report of a crime have been dropped for both David Andrew Hall and Christopher Broadwater.

It was shortly after midnight when Largo Fire Rescue and Officers from Largo Police Department responded to reports of a shooting.  The call for service came in Sunday morning at the Circle K located at the corner of Belcher Road and 142nd Avenue.

The caller was reporting that a man was shot and was being dragged behind the Car Wash located next door to the Circle K.  Numerous Officers from Largo Police responded due to the severity of the reported crime.

Multiple Officers checked the area but was unable to find any evidence of a crime.  None of the patrons at Circle K or nearby Billy Jack’s Burger Shack reported anything out of the ordinary.

Largo Police report that while officers were checking the area, a man walked toward an Officer  That Officer gave orders for the man to back away.  The man cursed at the Officer and continued to walk though the area and even back towards the officer during the investigation.

 

The man has been identified as 22 year-old David Andrew Hall of St. Petersburg, Florida.  After being read his Miranda, the arrest reports that he admitted to calling 911 and reporting the crime.  He also admitted driving to the scene in a stolen vehicle.  During an inventory of the stolen vehicle, a marijuana pipe was located and Hall admitted that it belonged to him.




Hall is facing charges of Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, False Report of Capital Crime, and Resisting an Officer Without Violence.  Hall is being held in the Pinellas County Jail on $2,500 bail.

19 year-old Christopher Broadwater of St. Petersburg  was also arrested during this incident. Broadwater is facing charges of False Report of Capital Crime, and Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle.  He is also being held on $2,500 bail.
