The part of the tree that was being removed originally came down on a neighboring home last Tuesday evening.  Melinda Jenkins, the owner of that home contracted with Sustainable Tree Service to remove the tree.

According to deputies the crane operator identified as Danny Tomas of
Sustainable Tree Service was able to jump off the crane safely after it began
tipping over.

The cane came to rest on their next door neighbor’s camper who has been identified as Robert Fasoldt.  Two propane tanks in the front of the trailer were secured by firefighter.  Significant damage occurred on the other side of the street as well.  It damaged three other vehicle including the corner roofing section of a home owned by Jeffrey Claus.  A light pole was also destroyed and Duke Energy was called in for its removal.

Chet Razey along with many in the neighborhood were watching as the tree was removed.  Chet was recording using his iphone as the crane began to topple.  IONTB has obtained the video which can be viewed below.

No injuries occurred thus far during this ongoing operation.  Crews just completed removal of the boom and is being loaded onto a truck.
