The U.S. Coast Guard has rescued a missing 17-year-old girl after 4-hour search off Tarpon Springs, Florida, Sunday, April 10, 2016. The Coast Guard launched an air and surface search at 6 p.m. after the family reported the missing girl became separated from them during a kayaking trip and not returned to the departing location.

The missing girl later stated her kayak had been waked by a boat and she lost her paddle and then drifted for several hours into the dark until a Coast Guard rescue helicopter crew spotted her at 10:06 p.m. Sunday. The Coast Guard helicopter crew vectored in a 29-foot response boat crew from Station Sand Key, Florida to her location who then transported her to awaiting EMS and family members.

She was last reported in stable condition with signs of mild hypothermia.
